Dear President Bush,

The Taiwanese American community of  ____________________________  thanks you for your recent actions regarding Taiwan: the robust arms sale package and your words of commitment to the defense of Taiwan.

Your actions have sent a strong signal to the People's Republic of China, reinforcing basic U.S. policy that the Taiwan issue must be resolved peacefully, by mutual agreement and, because Taiwan is a democracy, with the consent of the people on the island.  Force is not an option.

As Taiwanese Americans we fully support your actions because a secure Taiwan is the foundation of peace and stability in East Asia, a fundamental interest of the United States.
