I am really looking forward to participation in the
opening celebration of Taiwanese American Heritage Week
on May 25th in front of the National Air and
Space Museum. The
Greater Washington Chapter o the Taiwanese American Association
is to be commended for organizing a varied and illuminating
set of programs to help all American better understand Taiwan
and the Taiwanese American community.
The people of Taiwan have made an impressive history
over the last five plus decades, first engineering an economic
miracle and then bringing about a political miracle.
Taiwanese Americans have made important contributions
to American society, in business, education, the professions,
and politics. American
have long since recognized what you have given this county
and the example that your brothers and sisters back in Taiwan
have given to the world
