TAHW Statement
by Senator Miller (D-GA)
Taiwanese American Heritage Week Statement
Senator
Zell Miller
May
12, 2002
Dear
Friends:
It
is a pleasure to share with you my warmest regards and best
wishes as you celebrate the 2002 Taiwanese American Heritage
Week.
This
weeklong celebration is part of the Asian/Pacific Islander
American Heritage Month, and I join people throughout Georgia
and across the nation in paying tribute to the Asian heritage
and community.
Taiwanese
American Heritage Week celebrates the unique and diverse
contributions of the more than 500,000 Taiwanese Americans
living in the United States. As a U.S. Senator, I am proud
to represent more than 35,000 Georgians who are Taiwanese
Americans, many of whom have made significant contributions
to our state and nation as notable artists, Nobel Laureate
scientists, researchers, human rights activists, and business
leaders.
Taiwanese
American Heritage Week honors the long-standing friendship
between the United States and Taiwan. I commend those of
you who have worked so hard to make this Atlanta event a
success, [.]. Please know how much I appreciate all of the
great accomplishments and contributions of the Taiwanese
American community.
Sincerely,
Zell
Miller
