[...] Taiwanese Americans have played
an important part in every element of American life. They have
distinguished themselves in many areas, including science, business,
art, and human rights. I am glad our two nations share a good
relationships. Taiwanese American Heritage Week is always special
because it gives the United States and Taiwan an opportunity to
celebrate their long-standing friendship. I want you to know that I
appreciate all that the Taiwanese American community has done for
east Tennessee and the rest of our Nation.
