Dirty SARS politics
Despite the horrible result that could occur, China
continues cruelly to keep Taiwan from acquiring any SARS
medical assistance. Why?
China has a long history of committing repeated inhuman
violations to achieve its political purposes, such as
the notorious "one child" policy, which
massacred numberless unborn babies. And the story
continues. As SARS rages in China, officers still stick
to an untrue account of deaths. The reason?
China is more interested in saving face rather than
saving lives (see the "Unmasking an Crisis ",
Time, 21 April, 2003). And while Taiwan is taking all
the necessary measures to insure against SARS, China is
inhumanely forcing WHO to reject Taiwan's application as
a member, and isolating Taiwan from accepting any
assistance (the "Taiwan left isolated in fight
against SARS", Nature, 17 April 2003). Because by
accepting Taiwan as a WHO member, Taiwan would look
"independent" and China would loose the face.
What a terrible conspiracy! This has not only cruelly
interrupted the human assistance that 23 million of
lives in Taiwan urgently demand, but also has placed all
the lives in the world in danger. Taiwan has become a
non-separate entity of the global neighborhood. Any
contagious disease that is spread in
Taiwan will be propagated to the rest of world because
it is not able to acquire assistance.
The "dirty" political agenda has finally been
unmasked. It is time to ask WHO to stop offering
the special favors to China. WHO must accept Taiwan as a
member NOW!
