Shows Taiwan's Democracy
The recent
article about the Dalai Lama's visit to Taiwan(" Dalai
Lama treads softly on Taiwan trip", April 1) features
a photo showing people in a taxicab expressing their desire
for one China. I believe that most Taiwanese, however, recognize
the political and economic differences between Taiwan and
China. They have no desire to be ruled by Communist China.
This
photo does underscore the maturity of Taiwan's democracy.
I know how the Chinese police would read if a taxicab
showed up in Tienanmen Square with a sign saying " One
Tibet, One Taiwan, One China".
