Welcome, my friends.  While I cannot be with you personally today, I am most certainly with you in spirit.

As an original co-sponsor of House Concurrent Resolution 390, I have urged President Clinton to fulfill America's commitment to actively support Taiwan's membership in international organizations, including the United Nations.

I am hopeful that before Congress adjourns this year, it will take up this important resolution.  Taiwan has mush to offer the world community.  And my friends in Taiwan can count on my continuing efforts to ensure that, ultimately, their voices will be heard.
